Bairro Alto (meaning "Upper District") is one of Lisbon’s oldest and most charismatic neighborhoods. Built in the 16th century, it was originally home to merchants, sailors, and artisans. Over the centuries, it evolved into a cultural and bohemian center, especially during the 20th century, when it became the beating heart of Lisbon’s nightlife and alternative music scene.
